Hog Bay Notebook

Ok lets first address the name “Hog Bay Notebook” - well it’s not a great name is it. Ok that’s all the negatives out of the way lets get on with the review.

Hog Bay Notebook is by far the best notebook/outliner for the Mac that I have ever used. Coded entirely in cocoa with a simple elegant aqua interface this application just oozes quality, in-fact you could be forgiven for thinking it was shipped with your computer.

Use it for everything, from planning a small trip away to outlining a large project at work and it will handle both with ease.

I use it day in and day out and have experienced no crashes or glitches. I now have just one place on my computer that I store ideas, notes and to-do lists as well as drafts of articles and blogs (I’m writing this now in Hog Bay). With its instant ranked search results I never find myself looking aimlessly for that nugget of info that I must have now.

Hog bay notebook is everything I need to stay organised in one beautiful little application. It has all the features an outliner should have but at the same time avoids being a bloated piece of software that does all things for all people. Hog bay notebook is small effective and insanely useful.

Glad you like it, and I’m working on the name. I’m in the process of replacing Hog Bay Notebook with a new app. Best of all I’m also thinking of a new name, right now it’s called “Forest” but I’ll likely change that to “Mori” before it’s released. If you have other name ideas please stop by here:

Not much of a review really, is it?

Any chance of you saying what it actually does rather than just “I don’t like the name. I used it for a few days. I used it for a lot of things.”

I completely agree Rob Its a great little program thats so easy to use. I also use it for everything.

And buono its a simple review for a simple product, what more could you need.

Except the link says ‘Full Review’.

    Not ‘Simple Review’.

What can you use it for? How does it compare to OmniOutliner? What formats does it export to? Can I create files and share them with user of other apps / platforms?

Do you know anything more about it other than the name of the product (which you got wrong anyway)?

My criticism of the review aside, I wish you well. If you are trying to set up as a bona fide source of apple-related information, I just think that your content needs to improve.

The look of the site is first class though.
