It seems Apple are shipping protective cases with iPod nanos.
The cases are soft fabric affairs just like those bundled with new video-enabled iPods.
The decision to ship with these cases are due to recent complaints that some iPod nanos became easily scratched during normal use. These claims led to legal action against the company.
UPDATE: Wolfgang Bartelme has taken some photo’s of the case, you can see them here.

I didn’t get a case with mine. But then I’ve had mine for about a week now and not a single mark on it (apart from the greasy finger prints)
Suddenly I feel cheated! I still need to go buy my nano a “protective caseing” :P
