iTunes + The Times = Free Music

Filed under: News — by Rob — 17th October, 2005

iTunes and The Times newspaper has teamed up to bring you free music. Readers of the Times can register online to receive a promotional code which lets you have four free tracks.

Check out www.timesonline.co.uk/itunes/ for all the details.

This weeks free tunes.

  1. Bloc Party Like Eating Glass (Ladytron Zapatista Mix)
Bloc Party revealed their experimental instincts this year by asking such leftfield luminaries as Erol Alkan and Mogwai to remix each song from their Mercury-nominated debut album, Silent Alarm. One of the highlights was Like Eating Glass, the angular lead track, which was given an edgy overhaul by the electro-pop outfit Ladytron.
  2. dEUS If You Don’t Get What You Want
For their first album of new material in six years, the eclectic Belgian band dEUS may have reconfigured their line-up, but their idiosyncrasies remain intact. Drafting in musicians for the different songs and moods, Tom Barman may never have sounded more at home.
  3. Jim White Static on the Radio
The opening track on Jim White’s third album, Drill a Hole in that Substrate, is a haunting duet with Aimee Mann by an artist who turned from dealing dope and cab-driving to Southern-gothic fairytales.
  4. Josh Ritter Man Burning
Thoughtful poetry and emotional depth are Ritter’s greatest strengths: this sensitive, ballad is from his second album, Hello Starling
