What’s this then? Well, this is about someone who’s new to Mac, and is going to share all his experiences with you.
Who the crap am I? For reasons unknown to myself, I will remain partially anonymous, using the identity of MatBook. I am a Senior Web Developer for a small design consultancy. By day (and just about my whole computer history) I use a Dell PC. Now I’ve bought a MacBook - why? Well, firstly to test on [Geek!]. Secondly, because apparently, life is so much simpler with one. Thirdly, because they’re so damn cool!
Now, the chances are, you found this site because you own an Apple, and like all the other Apple owners, you probably think you know about every little thing about them? I bet you can’t wait to tell PC owners how far behind their operating system is?
Well, what about all those people who don’t have one? What about the people who don’t know how to use them because they’re so used to a PC? Like me!
I’ve been waiting to buy a MacBook for months and when Apple released them on 16 May, I put my order in the following day. It turned up on the following Wednesday, now I’m embarking on this wonderful Mac journey, and you can join me. Maybe you’re in the same boat and want to know how to do general things? Maybe you’ll know the answers to some of my problems? For now, lets start from the beginning.
This small package turns up and I’m thinking “boy that’s small, it can’t be in there”. It bloody was as well! So I tucked it under my arm and made off to home. I got it out of the box, and as expected I was up and running in about 20 mins. Almost without a hitch. The only problem I had was connecting to my wireless network (I do not have Airport, but a Netgear router). But, this was my own fault as I was typing in the wrong password.
Right! I’m into Tiger, now what do I do?
